Program Updates! July 2017
PREP (Practical Refugee Education Program)
This month we celebrated the end of two hair dressing courses, both beginners and advanced groups, ending the academic year with over 50 women trained in hairstyling and business.
We also began a new GED course- social studies section with 14 students.
We are continuing the TOFEL course and continuing to help students with their applications to university.
We held 2 agriculture courses and 1 carpentry course for students involved in agriculture workshops where they built furniture for the workshop.
CORE (Community Outreach…)
This month, the community outreach team traveled to Ashdod and conducted an RSD training and information session for 58 community members! At the event, we informed the community about their legal rights, family reunification opportunities, higher education opportunities, and pertinent information concerning RSD. In addition, the community outreach team worked diligently to submit 315 requests to the Ministry of Interior to reopen asylum claims that were previously rejected based on Clause 1. This was a follow-up effort to the successful telethon event from last month. We are happy to share that many of those cases have since been reopened! Next month, the community outreach team will be traveling to Netanya for an event!
