תמיכה והעלאת מודעות

ARDC תומכת בזכויותיהם של כל הפליטים ומבקשי המקלט בישראל ובמדיניות מקלט הומנית והוגנת בישראל. כמו כן אנו עובדים במרץ למען העלאת המודעות בנוגע למצוקתם של הפליטים ומבקשי המקלט האפריקאים, הפחתת מקרי האפליה, ושינוי דעת הקהל כלפי קהילת הפליטים.

מאמצינו הובילו להצלחות הבאות עבור קהילת הפליטים ומבקשי המקלט:

* בשנתיים האחרונות, 40 קטינים הנמצאים בארץ לבדם, נרשמו בהצלחה לבתי ספר ישראליים בתנאי פנימיה וכך הם קיבלו הזדמנות לקדם את השכלתם. קטינים אלו הגיעו לישראל ללא משפחה ובהתחלה התגוררו ברחוב, בדרום תל אביב - אזור הסובל מרמות גבוהות של עוני, פשע, סחר בסמים, גניבה, זנות ואלימות על רקע מיני ומגדרי. בתנאים אלו הקטינים היו בסכנה להידרדר לפשע או להיפגע. ההזדמנות שניתנה להם ללמוד בבתי הספר, המספקים אווירה תומכת, מהווה צעד ראשון בכיוון שיקום חייהם. בחסות ARDC, פסיכולוגית הילדים Lisa Law סיפקה 48 הערכות פסיכולוגיות, שהיוו תנאי מקדים לקבלתם של הקטינים לפנימיות.

* כ-2000 מבקשי מקלט מאריתריאה קיבלו אשרות עבודה תודות למאמצם המשותף של ARDC וארגוני זכויות אדם אחרים. בעקבות מצבם הקשה של מבקשי המקלט, שגרו בתנאי זוהמה וצפיפות, הממשלה נעתרה לאשר למבקשי המקלט לעבוד וכך לפרנס את עצמם.

* ביולי 2009, תודות למאמצי הפורום לזכויות פליטים, נזנחה מדיניות "גדרה-חדרה".
באזור תל אביב מתגורר אחוז משמעותי של קהילת מבקשי המקלט והפליטים. אך לא תמיד היה זה מקום מקלט בטוח: בתגובה לעלייה החדה במספר מבקשי המקלט מאפריקה, ראש הממשלה לשעבר אהוד אולמרט קבע את מדיניות "חדרה-גדרה". מדיניות זו אסרה על פליטים ומבקשי מקלט לגור ולעבוד במרכז הארץ, שם נמצאות רוב הזמנויות העבודה והחינוך לפליטים. בנוסף, רק בתל אביב הם יכולים לזכות בטיפול רפואי, המסופק על ידי ארגוני זכויות אדם. אלו כוללים את ARDC ועמותת רופאים לזכויות אדם. באמצע שנת 2009, מבצע "עוז" החל לאכוף את מדיניות "חדרה-גדרה" ולעצור ולכלוא מבקשי מקלט. אולם, ביולי 2009, כתוצאה מקמפיין מודעות אינטנסיבי, ARDC וארגוני זכויות אדם אחרים שכנעו את ממשלת ישראל לזנוח מדיניות זו.

Giving Back with Love
