Access to Higher Education

01/06/2010 - 31/12/2016

PREP also attempts to serve the higher education needs of the refugee and asylum seeker community by advising applicants and students regarding various aspects of the post-secondary educational system. We help applicants choose programs and connect to universities and colleges in Israel and abroad, aid in applications for admissions and scholarships, help provide tutors for standardized tests and entrance examinations (including TOEFL, GED, GRE, SAT, and Psychometric), and aid current students by communicating with administrators and student unions to help them access student support services.

Many of our applicants have applied to English language programs at Israeli universities, of which there are many, while some have chosen to apply to Hebrew language programs and courses that prepare students for study at Hebrew language universities (Mechinot).

In addition to working with refugees and asylum seekers, we try to work with university administrators and student groups to strengthen their connection with issues related to refugees and asylum seekers and to involve the students we serve in the larger Israeli academic community.
