ARDC group tours

The ARDC offers guided walking tours of South Tel Aviv for students, journalists, youth groups and other organizations interested in learning more about the refugee experience and situation. There are almost 10,000 asylum seekers living in southern Tel Aviv. They have fled a range of human rights abuses as a result of their ethnicity, religion, gender or political affiliation and hope to find temporary refuge in Israel.

Our tours are tailored for your group and topics explored include:

- the development of international refugee law following the Holocaust and displaced people across Europe after World War II;
- the challenges posed by the refugee situation to the Jewish state and modern day Zionism;
- the story of the refugees in Israel from sleeping en masse in Levinsky Park through to their gradual integration into Tel Aviv society;
- how Israeli civil society has responded to this issue;
- the neighbourhoods of Shapira and Neve Sha’anan; and
- the refugee experience as recounted by a refugee community leader, including his or her story, hopes and aspirations.

The cost of a tour for 1.5 hours is 500 NIS. Or you may choose a 2.5 hour tour for 700 NIS which includes a meeting with a refugee community leader and a processing session. For groups over 40 people this fee is doubled as we will need to provide two guides and parallel activities.

It is also possible to arrange volunteering opportunities for a group with sufficient notice. The cost of organizing and facilitating volunteering is 350 NIS.

If you are interested in arranging a tour, please fill our your details below and we will get back to you shortly.
